Since my last update, I have accomplished a few more things on my 2012 bucket list:

| Myrtle Beach trip |
2. Finish my honeymoon scrapbook. Okay... I think this one is getting kicked off the list. It's obviously not happening.
3. Bake a pie. From scratch. (I have never made a pie on my own! Not even a lemon meringue or chocolate pudding pie where you just pour ingredients into a premade crust!) I baked an apple pie for Christmas. I had to make a crust using Crisco instead of butter since I've been dairy-free. I learned that I should have put flour under the dough before rolling it out (thus the really ugly top), but otherwise it turned out decent.
| It certainly wasn't pretty, but it was pretty darn tasty! |
4. Make or do something that I have pinned on Pinterest (other than food). I would love to do something off of one of these two boards Things I want to make, Things I want to do with Drew. I did a lot of things with Drew, especially while pregnant, to keep him occupied so I could rest. I tried to link to the blogs/sites where I found the activities (through Pinterest).
5.Have a picnic.
6. Sing karaoke. (Eek!) Jason says it doesn't count- this was at a sneak preview for the new Nintendo system that came out (the WiiU). It is a karaoke game. I sang in front of Jason, two friends, and 2 guys that worked there- I say that counts! (Sorry it's a bad pic)
7. Get a physical. I know this is not a fun one, but it IS important. And I have to admit that between CF appointments and the girly doctor I figured I was covered and haven’t had a physical in far too long …
8.Buy ice cream from the ice cream truck with Drew.
9. Organize the photos on the laptop into proper folders. This is getting rolled over to next year. I got halfway there, but things got a little busy around here!
10.Do at least one random act of kindness (pay for someone’s coffee/groceries, hand out blessing bags, etc.). I saw some great ideas here. I'm not going to share what exactly I did because I think that kind of takes away from it, but it was kind of fun, and sadly enough, terrifying! I attached this little note:
11. Send a snail mail letter to a friend. Laura, maybe one of your 13 things in 2013 should be to return it? ;)
12. Read 4 books. As I discussed in the last update, I read a lot more than 4. I read 26, in fact. I obviously underestimated myself! This little goal led to one of my favorite accomplishments this year: our book club, The Saturday Night Lit Chicks!
I didn't finish 2 items, once again- my honeymoon scrapbook (I give up), and organizing my photos (I got halfway done). But I also did some other amazing things this year that I think more than make up for that. Namely, I was pregnant and had a baby! No, it wasn't on my list, though it was in the plans. I'm pretty sure you can excuse me for not announcing our plans to have lots of sex, among other reasons for not putting that on my list for 2012.
We also had some fun travels with Drew...
We finally did Drew's "baby" dedication...
Drew turned TWO!
We welcomed three close friends' babies...
(All girls, surprise, surprise!)
And we had some fun times with friends...
So 2012 was a pretty awesome year all around. I'm looking forward to the next, even though everything about this year bothers me (see goal #1). Without further ado, here is my list of "13 things for 2013".
1. Learn to be okay with the number 13. I'm not superstitious, just OCD and I hate odd numbers. 13 is one of the worst for whatever reason.
2. Take the boys to the aquarium.
3. Go to Canada with the family. The last time we went Drew was 4 months old!
4. Check out 5 new parks (with or without kids)
5. Run in another "race". I say "race" because I don't actually race them, but I would like to run in an "organized running event called a race". ;)
6. Read 20 books. I really enjoyed getting back into reading last year. I should finish at least 12 books (1 a month for book club) but would like to get a few more in there.
7. Take Drew back to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. We discovered a fun dinosaur garden when my mom and I took him there as a baby. I can't wait to go back!
8. Go on a fancy date night with Jason. Right now that seems like an impossibility as James more or less refuses to take bottles.... but we'll get there!
9. Grow a successful tomato plant! I never get more than 2 tomatoes (or a handful of grape tomatoes). :(
10. Prepare a set of frozen slow cooker meals (I have SO many pinned on Pinterest!)
11. Go to San Francisco! I want to get back there to see my sister. I'd love to take the boys, but I don't see myself traveling cross-country with two little ones alone, so it may have to be just me unless Jason can make it (hard to take time off work when I have time off work). Of course, if you look at #8, going by myself may not be an option either.
12. Finish organizing photos into folders on my laptop (from 2012 list)
13. Finish Drew's baby book (instead of my honeymoon scrapbook). I've filled in a lot of the information, but I need to print and add the pictures.
[I think ending this list on item 13 accomplishes goal #1!]
I'd love to hear your goals for the year or to see your own "13 in 2013" lists!

I also enjoyed trying out some photo ideas from Pinterest, some a little more successful than others...
This wreath is almost finished. A few of the ornaments fell off (thus the bare look at the top) and I need a ribbon to hang it from/cover up the top of the hanger, but I had fun with this. (I bought all the ornaments at Target for 50% off after Christmas). I guess I can't technically add it to my 2012 list since it isn't finished, but it's close enough. :P
