Monday Minute: Future Gamer

Here's my future gamer...

As I've said before, I'm a little torn on the "screen time" thing- supposedly not good for children under age 2 (because there is little interaction and mental stimulation), but Drew really enjoys playing games on the iPad from time to time, and is actually starting to "get it". As seen in the video, I couldn't believe Drew was actually hitting the coins and avoiding the pirates and boats (though the boats aren't actually bad)! This isn't my first choice of game on the iPad (though I could claim it's good hand-eye coordination practice), I prefer the animal flashcards and memory cards that teach him new words, but it's still fun to see how he's learning and grasping new concepts. NO, this is not an excuse to say I should let him play iPad all day (15 minutes max is good), nor is it to say iPad is bad, just that it's... well... FUN!

This would be a reason I DON'T want him

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth

I didn't expect that to be as difficult as it was, but I realized I really haven't said much about any of these things. Of course, part of the point was to share so funny/interesting/unknown facts about Drew, so check out the answers:
  • Drew does not like the feel of grass on his bare feet. Though we haven't ventured out barefoot, it has been warm enough to take off socks and feel the grass. Every time I try to get him to stand up in it, though, he pulls his feet up so he's dangling from my arms with legs crossed in the air. It's too funny!
  • He has learned to take off his pants in his crib. This could get dangerous!
  • He thinks I'm hilarious when I put my sunglasses on and MUST crawl to me to take them off. This is a fun game we play over and over again
  • He has a birthmark shaped sort of like a baseball hat on his right hip. Sorry Laura, Drew has no birthmarks (though you were inspiration for this lie). I DID recently discover a tiny freckle on his tummy, though, that I love to kiss!
  • Drew has a tuft of hair in the back that never sits down. Do we have a little Harry Potter on our hands?
  • He has learned how, and loves, to turn on the TV (even though we never watch it). Seriously, we don't even have cable anymore.
  • He loves green beans and blueberries. Okay, so this was the one that was intended to be a lie, but apparently I lied about it being a lie? I tried green beans so many times, and he rejected them every time, but we gave them one more try last night, and he happily ate them! Of course, anything he can pick up and feed himself makes him happy, check out the picture below!
  • He can already climb the stairs. Only just discovered this as we were trying to do the monthiversary photos! Also see below...
Making Mommy a real liar and enjoying my green beans!

  • Drew sneezes when he gets too much light in his eyes. You may remember seeing the video before.
  • He gets compliments on his big blue eyes almost daily.  This sentence is pretty much true, but he has brown eyes!
  • He has the exact same initials as my dad, just in a different order. And even though they don't share a last name!
  • Drew tries to talk to the animals, which usually only succeeds in scaring them away. I often don't realize the animals are nearby until Drew starts squealing, babbling, and reaching and I turn to find a cat or dog right beside us. Drew has a fairly specific noise he makes when he wants to "pet" the animals, but they generally don't stick around to allow him to do that!
Congrats to my mom for getting all three correct! My dad and sister also did a good job with only one wrong a piece. I hope everyone enjoyed playing!

P.S. I forgot to mention to check out all 9 of Drew's monthiversary photos here. (Perhaps this is why I thought the photos seemed so bright? They're just a different color overall)

Passing time

This is something else I've stolen from fellow "Due in June" blogger Penny in Pink.  A guessing game!  Since Floodling seems to be choosing to stay put still I figured we can have some fun while we wait and pass the time.  So... I want to know what you think...
  1. How much will Floodling weigh?
  2. How long will he be?
  3. What time of day will he arrive?
  4. Will he have hair?
Need some help?  Here are some stats about me and Jason:

Diane
7 lbs. 13 oz.
20 inches
Arrived at 6:35 am
Some hair

 Jason
9 lbs. 10 oz.
23 inches
Arrived at 10:50 am
Some hair

I wish I had pics of the two of us at the same age... I'm about 3 weeks old in mine, but Jason is about 9 months old.  Right now all my baby photos are in Chicago (but my parents are here), and we only seem to have the one of Jason!  Check back later, maybe I'll have more...

So, what do you think?  You can post your predictions in the comments section!  Just FYI, if you have a gmail account you can sign in using that login info.  There are other ways to sign in as well, but you can also choose to comment "anonymously" then sign your name.  If you don't sign your name, you can't win your prize!

Prize??? Of course there's an awesome prize... the satisfaction of knowing you were right! ;)  And, of course, all the bragging rights associated with that!
